Setting up employee allowances

Learn what allowances are and how to set them up saving you time on administrative duties.

What is an allowance?


An allowance is an employee entitlement specific to their role. For example, an employee working as a cook in the fast-food industry may receive a laundry allowance.

Allowances can be applied to an employee or by an area. You can set up allowances to be applied per hour of a shift, a shift total or as a quantity or multiplier.


Creating an automatic allowance rule


Set up rules so allowances are automatically assigned to an employee's timesheet on completion of their shift. Implementing an allowance rule saves you time come payroll.

Common uses for this function include laundry or meal allowances as these are applied to each shift.

  1. Navigate to the Employee page

  2. Select Allowances from the sidebar

  3. Select Add Allowance

  4. Enter a name and description for the allowance

  5. Configure the amount, how you would like the allowance applied and who you would like the allowance applied to

Limiting Allowances

You can limit the number of times an allowance can be applied during a working week.

This is applied in the allowance editor and applies to the allowance itself. If you require limited a limitless allowances of the same type, create a second limited allowance.
